“Segara is based on my experiences growing up as a Balinese. I aim to delve beneath the surface of Bali's breathtaking nature, culture, and heritage to shed light on the less glamorous aspects of our society.
I aim to reveal underlying issues in Bali such as feelings of abandonment, prevailing pessimistic mentality and a lack of vulnerability that often go unnoticed. Growing up on the island, I relate to these challenges firsthand. Through my film, I hope to reveal these issues to the forefront, sparking conversations, encouraging a collective embrace of change. Segara showcases the reality of life in Bali and will follow our protagonist’s journey of growth amidst adversity. While the film's storytelling may be niche, it promises to resonate universally, offering a moving exploration of the human condition. Ultimately, this narrative delves into the universal quest for understanding and acceptance, encapsulated within one boy's search for his father's truth."
